Self-Portrait

" There are many interpretations of Art. The most theoretical is that Art is a creative activity transforming materials in the purpose of realizing an aesthetic object.

Conscious of this reality, I think that I've gone beyond this interpretation.

Art is the expression of the Creator's repressed or unconscious desires (FREUD). Since I was certain that creating is a deliberated action, I refuted this thought for a long time. But I now think that I understand what Freud ment. I have tempted the journey you can find in reality, and by a disinterested game of mind I reached the surreal . I paint what I've got the impression to see. There is all the power of the dream.

Art also has a human objective; the one to get a relation between men by the pleasure of senses and the thought.

P R E S S   C U T T I N G (extract)

"Jean-Claude Jouvin started to paint at the age of 18 . Through objects, landscapes and personages, he restores the unusual and the Poetic Vision of the Surrealistic Inclination. His conception of painting is out of time and fashion, loyal to the technology of primitive painters."

"By borrowing from the real and the imagination in the same time, his Work translates a serious and a mannerism in a world who sometimes confines the limits of fantastic."

"In his compositions, Jean-Claude Jouvin realizes the Creatures of his Fantasys. Painter out of Time and Fashions, this Poet, loyal to technologys of the Medium Age, restores above the Items and the personages a latent peace. You can perceive this peace through all Works of the Master of Surreal. This painter hides observations and torments in his paintings, revealing to those who are able to discover the real personality of this Artist ."

"Jean-claude Jouvin has a very marked personality, serving an expression until the limit of symbolism with a perspective shading off in a bluish tone (in the Dutch way, the Land of predilection of the Painter since he has exhibited in La Haye). He has a very unified technology, pantheistic connotations, diversifying constructions and above all the Love to Women, to Children and to Animals. In one word, love to a idealised happines."

B I O G R A P H Y

Jean-Claude Jouvin has always been painting.

As long as he can remember, he's been living intensively for his art. He controls this passion in every instant of his life. He says he's a free artist who doesn't belong to any school.

This freedom is reflected in his Work. Beyond items, landscapes and personages, he offers a poetic vision of Life where the unreal makes us dream.

He assists a large number of exhibitions in the world (France, Belgium, Spain, Netherlands, Japan etc...) where he gets noticed because of his very personal interpretation of his ART where "the artist, who's influenced by the metaphysics, serves as intermediary between God and Man".

He also paints huge frescos in unexpected places since a long time (Department Stores… Diversifying environments…). In this way he transports us to a fabulous living decor, real and imagined at the same time.

Thanks to a well-informed sponsorship, an appeasing calm rules this privileged place where the presence of the artist makes us rediscover youth and the joy of life.

We then easily forget the difficult realitys of our city society.
